Black locust... lots of it here, great wood too. It gets real hard when its dry. It is pretty rot resistant (resistance to fungi and disease like cedar I guess you could say) and puts out a lot of BTU's.
I've seen mixed reports on its BTU value, and reasoning times. I can't think of anything I would rather burn, and I have had it get under 20% moisture in less than 6 months (pretty impressive). Makes killer fence posts too.

It's a play saw but I want it to run a 36" with a 8 pin.

I'm gonna try 98 and lots of compression.

My saw is 101 with 230lbs of compression and will tune at 14500,I don't know how much faster one needs to turn.

Wich is faster,a saw that turns 15000 and can run a 8 pin or one that turns 14000 but can run a 10 pin.

I'm curious to know, I'm sure somebody has tested it.

The one with the highest chain rpm when buried in wood.
Which one though?

Don't madsens have the formula to calculate chain speed on there site?

There has to be a point where tourqe will out weigh rpm. I'll take the torque with a bigger gear. I think. Lol

I need to do some testing
