Was the 390 done at Phil's? The 460 definitely sounds like it could use more transfer timing and duration.

I love the knowledge that is shared on this site, especially when it is knowledge that I do not posses. Amazing that you can tell that by just listening to the saw, I am impressed!

Matt, I got them, and the MMWS 044 with a 28" light bar. Give that one a try also and let me know what you think of it. IMO, the 044 feels significantly lighter.

If your running a 32" or 36" that Husky is gonna feel better and probably lighter due to it balance. Huskys balance well, Stihl's don't with the longer bars. Around here there isn't much higher need for a 28" bar on a 390 size saw. That is a logging saw rather than firewood getter. So put a longer bar on and bury them. If the 390 doesn't win there is something wrong with that particular saw. In 24" and under firewood size wood, I might expect the 460 to win. Mine did over my 064 & 066. But not once the 36" bar came out. All of this assumes equal quality porting.

I stood on them both hard enough to test the limit of their torque. I will be comparing them with a longer bar since that's what I prefer to do when I compare saws. I plan on comparing them with a 36" and then a 60" set up for the fun of it. Though I don't have large enough wood on site for that.

I second that. My 044 feels good with a 28" Sugi.... Might be a little nose heavy, but it feels better than my stock Stihl 25" bar. Only problem is, if my mmws 044 wears the 28" bar, what do i do with my 2188????

The Stihl E bar is 10.3 oz lighter than the ES bar, and would make a good fit on that 044. I got mine in .063 gauge. I like to use the 044 with the 28" for felling, and the 460s with the 24" for bucking.
