I was wondering what the opinion is on parting out a good running saw or selling whole. Some saws, unfortunately, are worth more parted out. However, I hate to part out a good running saw.

I don't know .Scott at Chainsawr tears them down by the truck load it seems . Then you have good ole Bryce in I think St Marys Washington that according to some has a warehouse full of parts .I don't know how these folks even keep track of what they have .

Depends on if you want to spend the time sitting on it and shipping out piece by piece or just cut it loose and pocket what you get.

I guess you didn't get any offers you liked..lol

I saw what Chainsawr was getting for the major parts and it added up to double the highest offer I received for the 298. I've got more time than money.

I'll try to bite my lip...

Stuff is only worth what someone will pay for it. Parts or whole saw.

Really sad to see a nice running saw like thst get parted out to fleece someone's pocket with dough.

If you're money hungry or don't feel you got fair market price then part it out.

Just curious, how much did you expect to get out of the saw? Highest bid in the thread reached $450 or higher didn't it? People asked you to list a price but you wouldn't do it. Maybe you have unrealistic expectations and didn't want to put a price on it?

I would only part out a running saw if I knew the parts were in high demand and would sell fast for a good price, like if it was a cult saw such as the MS260 or 346XP. Otherwise, I think your best outcome would be sell a few pieces and then be stuck with an incomplete saw taking up space. Another thing to remember is, if you part it out you're going to be competing with people selling whole non-running parts saws.
