Looking at the Oregon 410-120 and the 520-120. Is the 520 worth the extra $? Sharpening for my self mainly. Anybody with experience on these two? Thanks

Don't shy away from the Stihl HOS or USG.
(In the grand tradition of straying off topic in a thread . . . )

Does anyone know why STIHL makes both models? Isn't the HOS a 'dumbed down' version of the USG? Is the price difference that significant? Is there any advantage to the HOS over the USG?

Thanks.

(Please return to your regular programming . . . . . )

There is no advantage to the HOS over USG. It has 1 less adjustment in the grinding wheel setting angle. But it will still do a very good job.

Thanks Margaret. I did end up going with the 520. It's here already, but have not had a chance to use it yet.

Just saw this thread.
Did you get it set up and try it out, how do you like it.
