All great info fellas .
I'll post some pics when she's done . Seals & bearings are in my mailbox right now . Going to order a new oil pump (updated one without the dust seal) .
Tygon fuel lines and a new bulb.

She's coming along nicely , got the new seals / bearings in after cleaning her up . Compression feels much better at this point .

Here's a little update .
The saw quit on me yesterday. I was warming it up prior to fine tuning the hi / lo screws and it just quit .
Would not fire again.
Good spark , plug dry .
Primer bulb was empty and would not pull fuel through the carb .
Fuel was getting TO the carb but not THROUGH it as it should.
I pulled the carb off as this is the obvious problem .
It's a Walbro WT-391 . Completely disassembled and cleaned . While I was spraying carb cleaner into the low speed jet , I found the Welch plug on the metering side was bubbling.
I guess I could have ordered a rebuild kit which would have included a new Welch plug but for $36.00 , I opted for a new one as this one is over 30 years old.
So , on the way is the new carb , oil pump and pickup .
Everything will be here Friday and the weekend weather looks perfect for an indoor project 😡.
Stay tuned.....

That's a bummer, I have not had a leaky Welch plug yet, though I have changed a few just because I had the part that came with a kit. Sounds like when you get done, you will have an almost new saw again!

Update:
Saw is on the shelf . Very frustrated at this point and before I chuck it into the big blue trash bin , I figured I'll let it sit on the shelf for a while .
It does run but not well .
All the essentials are there .
Great spark , great compression and fuel.
.....cooling off .

Have you done a crankcase leak test? Are the symptoms the same as before you replaced the carburetor or any different? What exactly is it that it runs but not well?

I haven't done a leakdown yet . After I replaced the carb , it runs but won't idle unless the idle screw is maxed out and that's not right .
It also bogs when accelerated no matter where the low-speed screw is .
I guess I should pull it off the shelf and be sure the fuel filter is flowing enough .....

The fuel filter is a good start. And, of course, the line connecting it to the carburetor. Is it tight? Not too soft?
You can also easily check the fuel cap, which has a valve that equalizes the pressure in the tank with atmospheric pressure.

I replaced all the lines with genuine Tygon .

Do you have fuel lines on correctly? A friend gave me his saw to fix, wouldn’t run well. He had just changed the fuel lines. They were not on the right way. After correcting them, runs, great!
I can’t find the diagram for the the hose routing..

Thank you. I do believe I have them connected correctly.
I think I'm going to pull it off the shelf Sunday morning and start messing with it again.
I'll post a pic then .

I have this on my bench now , fuel filter is clean & free flowing . Lines are connected correctly.
Pic1 barb is connected to fuel filter / line .
Pic 2 barb is connected to the suction nipple of the primer bulb .
The carb is a knock off from Amazon and I had to modify the choke lever to accommodate the different arm set up. Although it worked smoothly and correctly.
I'm wondering if I should just order a new choke lever & correct carb ($46.00).

I have this all back together (except for the recoil spring I'm waiting on ).
I have the high & low speed screws set to 1 turn out from lightly seated as a starting point .
Is this acceptable ?
I won't see the spring until Tuesday so I can't fire it until then .
