just got my bunton in june no can tell me how old it it ?
What cut is your bunton? I have one very close to yours. The Robin engine is not originial. Buntons only came with Tecumseh, or briggs on them. That deck style started in 1971. The wheels should all be the same size on the early ones. the later model ones had larger rear wheels.

Bunton and Goodall where the same company, the mowers where the same. that deck style came in 18" and 21" the 22 inch was self propeled. Where in Kentucky are you located? I have copies of some old bunton brocures and different pictures. If you still have the data plate by the rear handle mount on the deck that will tell the year and engine. Also pictures of the upper handle to see if it had the engine brake on it,(extra holes for the levers) would date it after 1982.

Here are some pictures of buntons one with the safety handle and mine that is pre safety handle. They used the handle bars till about 1986-87 then went to loop handles.r_322[1].jpg107.JPG

If you can post up the model plate info or a picture of it I can tell you what year and what engine was originial.

The serial number reads that it is a 21" cut originally came with a tecumseh 3.5 hp. The numbers should be CGG which stands for commercial and the GG is the year. The double letter date code started in 1970 with AA,so yours is a 1976. Yours is a Goodall.

How about a snapping turtle mower. I do believe there are the early snappers.

View attachment 11551 View attachment 11552 View attachment 11556 View attachment 11557 Here is a 1971 Bunton commercial 21" push mower I restored. I weighs 120 pounds with fuel and oil. The deck is 3/16 steel. It has steel rims with greaseable bearings. It originally came with a tecumseh/lauson 3.5hp, other engine options where briggs 3.5hp or briggs 5hp. After trying to keep the original tecumseh going I finally gave up and switched it to a briggs.
A boss of mine back in the early 80's had this same mower, built like a tank!, yours looks real nice, would love to find one.

Need some help on this one, I vaguely remember this engine being used on the BuntView attachment 47735 ons for a short while, were they Sachs engines?
The engine is a JLO rockwell engine I have the specs somewhere in my Bunton info I will dig it up for you.I have a buddy here at work that has one too. The parts are a little hard to come by but most can be found from snowmobile parts.
