Just a little dissapointed with the Topdon scanner. Limited in what it can do, more of a diagnostic tool, whereas I was hoping for more of a programmer. Get larger tires, you want to program the circumference of the tires, or control the duration of the cargo light after engine shutdown, etc.
Nope! It is a reader to help understand and possibly fix problems, and it can clear DTCs. This is fine, and very useful. Had I known? I'm not sure. Feels like I got my money's worth, and I did not want to spend a whole lot more, so it is a keeper. Programming stuff will have to be for needs, not wants and I'll have to pay the dealer to make the changes.
In my mind when a check engine light comes on,
1. I can ignore it, and assume the risk, which is not recommended. Once upon a time, IMO, all check engines where O2 sensors, period, and could be ignored.
2. Get my poop push in by the dealer, or
3. Read the code and scour the internet for a possible solution.
With this tool, I get to explore #3.
