Her name is Thea (Goddess of Light) and she is an Australian Labradoodle.

So.....my grandson brought this home from school Friday.

I am sure that wasn't a joke. My grandson was being bullied by a kid with hateful notes and threats to harm him. After a couple of conversations with the principal and then a not so nice conversation with the mixed mom and dad the bullying came to a sudden stop when the kid was confronted in the bathroom by my grandson, alone. It wasn't pretty but the message was sent. Then the suspension hearing with the superintendent (who is a friend of mine) ended with no suspension for my grandson. Now this year they are both in Middle School, no issues so far. My grandson has made many friends over the summer with older kids. We will see how it goes. Sometimes you have to take a stand for yourself, for better or for worse.

Sadly, that's the only thing that worked for me when I was a kid, and my youngest son. Both ended with a short suspension, but it never happened again. My oldest son never did anything about the bullying because of his personality. But it stopped his junior year thankfuly.

How can the faculty prevent a student from bringing a piece of paper to school though?
I'm with you, I don't like the idea of it happening. But there is nothing that can be done to prevent it, other than hiring more personnel to check what every student brings to school each day. This very mentality is why everything that we ever buy is more expensive than it needs to be.

I agree, it cannot all be prevented. But, the school is responsible in some way. strict policy and no bullying awareness can make a difference. Expelling the kid might just deter the next a-hole. If not, expel the next one too. Eventually you will make a difference and create a safer environment. Doing nothing will make it worse. The school has a duty to do everything possible to prevent this imo.

Totally agree. But it needs to stop at the source, rather than after the fact. Many of the victims are threatened to secrecy and can't come forward without fear of those repercussions.

It's very different today than years ago. I was always the scrawny little kid, got picked on for it too. I did what @beaglebriar said, kid was a good 6" taller snd probably had 75lbs on me. Straight throat punched him in front of his buddies. Then was on him like a spider monkey on crack.
He left me alone after that.
Today, that wouldnt fly..

As far as that bullying *s-wordt goes, thank God my kids are 28 and 21, far removed from today’s bullshitt in school. I’d be in jail probably if my kids were in these times. It wouldn’t be from tearing a kids ass outta the frame...it’d be from knocking the chiclets out of the male parents’ mouth...which most these little punks prob don’t have nowadays.

Back in our day, you took your business to either a block of woods across from Jr High and High School (both Jr High and the HS shared the same huge, all-encompassing block of property), or we squared up in the back of a convenient store that sat behind the gym, baseball and football fields.

These little SOB’n bullies today just need a good 2” leather belt across their ass for about 20 mins...in front of their peers. See how badass the punks are then...when they’re humiliated.

Never did get in trouble for defending myself or popping a bully in the nose when I was a kid, that pretty much ended it and always right where it started instantly. The surprise look on their face when their BS didn't fly but my fist did was pretty universal. Actually became friends with some after they got some respect from/for me, sadly a couple were just plain old no good and didn't learn anything other than to try someone else, they currently live in our prison system to this day.
As an adult I never shirked from giving aid to someone that couldn't fend for themselves either.

ISS and some talks w parents that things such as that won’t be tolerated if it happened again to anyone by the guilty student they would be removed from school for the year, to be repeated next year due to failure of classes because of to many in excused absences! That will help the care of problem parents as well! And remind the parents of anti bullying laws that they can be held accountable for their child’s actions as well now days!

Also as a kid we never and I mean never ratted on each other, if you took a lump you sucked it up and made an excuse for having it. We were way more afraid of our parents than we were each other and that lady's and gentlemen is the one thing missing today.
Schools are not, nor should they be responsible for parenting our kids. Teach your kid right from wrong and he or she can make the right decisions when adversity comes knocking. Somebody isn't always going to be there for them, this is when confidence in themselves is critical.
