How many head gaskets has it had? My wifes 05 outback needed a new set just before 100,000 then around 130,000 I had to rebuild the frontend. Then the final straw was the fly by wire gas pedal replacement at 140,000.
Was the best thing I have ever done drove in the snow. Just seemed to be a little fragile for my taste.

1 replacement set, 1 replacement timing belt. The key to longevity on the EJ25 series engines (to include the EJ255 in WRX and EJ257 in STi) is the grounds. Adding several small ground wires from the heads to the chassis helps reduce galvanic corrosion. The poor grounding (only on the passenger side head) results in galvanic corrosion and premature headgasket failure of the DRIVER’s side. Adding the appropriate grounds (in the multiple Subarus I built i did 2 per head) has shown to reduce corrosion and also even-out lingering voltage latencies. Evening out the voltage helps keep things like Throttle Position Sensor, Knock sensors, crank sensors, throttle position sensors from premature failure.

Just sayin.

My biggest complaint with the 6 Subies I have had is wheel bearings. Even retro-fitting the STi and Legacy GT wheel bearings didn’t increase life expectancy of the wheel bearings.

I'll remember that. It was funny the day I went in to get a new pedal the parts guy was like you're in luck, we just got more in. Should of been a recall fix if you ask me. You'd be going 75 down the road and all of a sudden it be like gfy you're going 20!

Out of respect for Kevin I am done
I feel like I proved my point

You know it’s funny Dallas...when I finally had a few coins, I sent Steve a $100 for being the middle man in all this. So now you telling me I’m a f’n slack ass?...Nahh...you got the wrong *n-word here. Is what it is boy...

You 2 children grow the fuuk up, act like adults and stop disrespecting EVERYONE ELSE on this board with your ignorant pissant-slap-fighting.

I’m all for ball busting and schitt talking, but this is so far past bullschitting that its not even entertaining. Neither of you can plead ignorance as to what the premise of the bickering between you is about, so just man up and settle it or man up and walk away. I’m not saying walk from the board, I’m saying steer clear of each other.

Me: coming upon old lady driving 15mph below the speed limit in her Buick; “Oh yeah! A passing lane; look-out Grandma i’m coming around on the outside!!”
Subaru: “yeah! Lets go 75!!! Yay, now lets go 15! Oh boy this is fun”
Me: as old q-tip I just passed putt-putts around me at 15mph below the speed limit;“Stop staring at me you judgmental old fart”

You must be new.

There is a Time and place for arguing to this extent. But resorting to dropping n-bombs (whichI don’t blame Dall for) in an open thread in an open forum is just blatant ignorance, especially in this day and age. Since both were trading jabs and escalating each other I hold both equally responsible in this circumstance. I don’t care if I’m new here compared to them, it still ain’t right.

I mean you must be new literally.
They did this before we had the naughty word filter.

Won't help they just have some bad blood that should be taken care of privately.
Niece's husband installed 2500.00 worth of pergo
With all the ends lined up perfectly.
Instead of stepping each run.
Looks like a child did it.
I didn't say anything it was done before i got there.

I’ve had a bunch and I would happily own more. No vehicle is perfect. I regret selling my 2004 Forester XT every day. If it wasn’t for having both hips reconstructed and no longer able to drive a standard I would be driving one today. Knowing what to do and how to do it makes it a whole lot easier to keep a vehicle up and runnin and runnin on the cheap.
