39 year old father of 9 kids. Employer of 23, one of my staff is engaged to marry their concrete foreman 4 weeks tomorrow. It's just too devastating to wrap my head around it.

Was in a trench that collapsed, took almost 20 hours to find him and get him out. Crews worked through the night without any luck.

That's terrible!

Ok, pop quiz. No Google.
What movie did that line come from, and what rap song was it used in later? Tick tock.

In so many ways. Just think of the family that is in the process of building their dream home, will always know this happened on their property.

That would be bad for them.
Its terrible anywhere it happens, but a private area is so much worse. Industrial/commercial areas dont have the personal factor. Just a bad decision. Weve all made them. Most of the time, we live to tell. Sometimes...

Looks like its got water in the oil too.
The lift cylinders all have blocking valves in case a line blows, but with water and contaminants in the oil, they might not work.
Ive Been in 150 footers a lot, and a 180 footer a time or too. Not a good place for something like that to go bad.
I cant believe the rental company put something out there like that. Actually, I can.
Years ago we had a 60 footer at work. Owners son who was only there for the summer dumped 5 gallons of gas in the hydro res. Rental company useu a turkey baster to remove gas:facepalm:

The nonsensical running of the COVID crisis in my state continued today, finally to my benefit. Our stay at home order got extended but she decided that the automotive sector was essential starting Monday. I'll be back in next Wed for a day assisting in the startup of equipment and then back to it full pull the following Monday. I'm not sure what exactly has changed on this side of the state but I'm sure she'll tell us we flattened the curve.

Using 7018 x 1/8".
Somewhere around 125 amps +-.
Looks like you got high at work today.:)

Here it is covered. Gotta do that about 6 more times, then go under for the overhead stuff.

Nice looking welds. Were you laying in dirt or gravel doing this?

No, but I usually am, or either up in the air.
Actually have this crane set on beams on a concrete pad. Its at a prestressed concrete building component plant. They make the concrete "double tees" for warehouses and industrial buildings.
The end I was working on, the welding was mostly at the 5'-6' level from the ground.
I used to be able to do some pretty work. Body is worn out, so it shows in my welds. Eyes are also worn out, and that shows worse. Put my glasses on and that helps.
Noticed that my coworker Frank, who's always had perfect welds, is starting to suffer from the same problems I have. He's older than I am, but has welded a lot more too. Problem we have is that we dont have any of the younger guys that know how to do this, or want to. This is a specialised field. You cant just be a welder. You have to be a welder/fabricator/electrician/engineer/mechanic/inspector/project manager/supervisor/PR specialist to qualify.
