Which is exactly why I don’t have one. He is pulling the 350hp Mercruiser 350 out and putting in a built 400. The outdrive is coming off and getting resealed, etc. I’m new to working on boats so i’m just a tool fetcher and learning.

motor is just a chevy motor with different intake and manifold
out drive is a simple transmission the worst part to them is the damn linkages

Those linkages are easy.
The cam is also quite different and the richer carb circuits. Less ignition advance with a faster curve to full advance. Lower compression and big open chambered heads are the norm. Everything is built to avoid detonation with the poor fuels available today. In the early seventies 350/350 and 350/365 Mag motors were the norm. Sadly todays 350/300 is still a lacking thing stock. *f-word that I/O hole....been there done with that. Outboard V for the easy of use and the overall win.
