The Bendix is in the flywheel housing, separate from the starter.

How do you get to it? I knew I shouldn't have put the cladding back on that side.

I don't 100% remember. Pretty sure you have to pull the floor board and basically whatever else is in the way of removing the cover. I'm going on memory here which is in short supply.

That involves the floorboard,a filler panel between the front and rear fenders,a round plastic cover attached to the engine itself. Then you are at the aluminium cover that apparently hides the bendix and flywheel.
