Those were some tough dudes. My grandad was on a Navy LST. Sank at Guadalcanal. Made it off. They stuck him right back on another one. Hes been gone since 96. Still miss him.

Most if us probably aren't 1/2 the man they were. My dad instilled in me honesty and a hard work ethic. We didn't see eye to eye often but that is the way it goes sometimes. I remember one thing us boys were told at an early age. He said, "you come home from school and you have been in a fight and you started it, I'm whipping your a$$. Good evening all. Mom and Dad just left. Dr'd up some burgers on the deck up at the lake with another fresh garden salad and some deli pasta salad. Both of the kids there too. What do you guys suppose the deal is here? These leaves appear to be wrapped up to form some type of cocoon. It looks like spider webs around it, so I can surmise it was spiders, but the entire thing is roughly 3" in diameter and about 5" in length.


My wife was with me and she would allow no further investigation on my part other than the pics.

It was good. Thanks for asking. Spent it at home with the wife and kids enjoying a pot of homemade Pho. Wifey boiled the broth all night and simmered it all all day today. It was delicious at breakfast and f'n outstanding for dinner. But I have to admit, I am a little jealous of your lakeside hideaway and fresh garden salads, lol.
