Meant to post this the other day...son’s been looking for an suv the last few weeks and either he and I or his mother and him have looked at a small handful of decent ones. He found this garage kept, one-owner ‘04 Explorer XLT 4x4, 4.0 V6 with 104K miles last week and scooped it up. Loaded, leather interior, sunroof, three-row seating, running boards...it’s in cherry, immaculate condition inside and out. New OEM factory headlight assy’s, all maintenance records, oil changes, etc from the initial purchase. Ol’ fella wanted $3500 for it, he and Jared got to bullshittin’, he was in the Navy as well and served on a couple of aircraft carriers decades ago...Jared walked with it for $2500 cash.

beware of the trans behind that v6!!! Service it soon, service it often!! Also be mindful of leaking thermostat housings and head gaskets. Throttle bodies are known to crap out randomly as well. Explorer forum is your friend.

I take them both out. But some of the early Stihls like the 064 had metal shielded bearings and ran for 20 years. So I’m not completely certain if it’s necessary, but I take them out anyway

I believe the 10mm 044's had those sealed bearings as well. At least some years did. My 1993 had them.
