Might have ya beat on the stupid meter. They stopped all production. All million plus sq ft. To 5S, which is Japanese for cleaning. We shut everything down for a half hour and sorted, separated, shined, and I don't remember the other two translated "S's"...

Worked at a plant that hired a guy to implement that, we threw away hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of parts from storage because of 5S. It wasn't a week later after the last dumpster full rolled out it cost $35,000.00 for new parts that we just got done throwing away. Brilliant!!!

It's always been a thing here, five minutes at the end of the shift. A non-production Saturday here or there. It's part of the culture I get it. They've never stopped this whole train to do it though. I guess it's gonna be a thing every Tuesday for the foreseeable future. Or until we're close to missing a shipment. That's one of the other principles here, lean manufacturing and just in time. As long as nothing breaks...
