Evening fellas

Got the cabinets and old floor mostly out.

Now to figure out what to do with the old sub floor...

3/4 mdf over 3/4 plywood. Do I try to replace the bad mdf boards or just cover them with something.

Pretty sure I'm just gonna do 1 sheet of vinyl on this side of the house.

I’m pretty sure for sheet vinyl you’ll want to put some Pro Board or other subfloor down over the entire area so I would just patch th bad spots. I’d use plywood if the thickness matched.

I'm well.

Kind of leaning that way as gramps loved to use nails..... lol

You?

That 1/4" stuff is an option. Darn 3/4 plywood would cost more than the flooring I plan to cover it with...
That ain't very comfy to walk on...

Ever priced sheet vinyl? A guy can get some pretty cool laminate or vinyl tile like Allure and do it yourself for similar or less $.

It's beautiful on the walls
We replaced the bad sections of mdf
When we did floors.
Then ran underlayment
On top for an adhesive surface and strength.

I went cheap route to lumber liquidators 1800 sq ft
Of hickory 20 year was 800.00
American made.
They have waterproof laminate or vinyl and sheets now very reasonable.
20 year's ago it would've cost me 3-4 time's as much

Yep. Most of the stuff for flooring we were looking at was .90-1.25 a sqft. I'm not sure what will be more forgiving a single sheet or planks?

Looks like a few of the seams already had some type of filler.

Would really hate to have more $$ in the underlay than the new flooring.

For sure. There are some linear vinyl tiles that look as good or better than real hardwoods. Of course if you put in 3/4” real hardwood I wouldn’t even worry about patching the bad spots of the sub floor.

I can speak much for vinyl, but with tile a smaller size is more forgiving for humps and so on.
