Yep. Most of the stuff for flooring we were looking at was .90-1.25 a sqft. I'm not sure what will be more forgiving a single sheet or planks?

Looks like a few of the seams already had some type of filler.

Would really hate to have more $$ in the underlay than the new flooring.

Single sheet more forgiving on uneven subfloor, no seams. We were going to do linear tile but out floor joists weren’t even so not an easy fix and we would have had more in subfloor than finish floor. That’s why we went real wood.

Evening fellas

Got the cabinets and old floor mostly out.

Now to figure out what to do with the old sub floor...

3/4 mdf over 3/4 plywood. Do I try to replace the bad mdf boards or just cover them with something.

Pretty sure I'm just gonna do 1 sheet of vinyl on this side of the house.

I'd rip that chit out. MDF sucks... period.

One small leak, you'll be tearing it out and wishing you had done it when the place was gutted.

By far this advantech is the best flooring or any use material I've ever seen.
It'll discolor but not rot
I've had a bench outside for 5 year's
Still no rot.

That was kind of what I was thinking.. floors are all pretty flat still, just high spots from old water spills etc..

Yeh. Still puzzled as to why gramps put the mdf on top of the plywood?
Did I just log in to This Old House?

I've seen two kitchen floors destroyed from leaking ice maker lines. Both were expensive repairs and both were MDF/press board underlayment.

No way I'd use that crap. I'd sooner use OSB if money was an issue.

1/2" OSB is $17 and change right now around here....so it's not exactly cheap any more.
