I'd guess you would have some classroom stuff,learn how to pack hose, run a pump truck, advance a hose line, search a burning building stuff like that. Probably do a bunch of live fire training as well.I am mostly curious what the Fire Academy involves.
Our department requires that everyone needs to be fire and EMT certified.
They made a exception for my wife with her experience, she will only run medical calls and assist patients and department personnel on fire calls. She will not need to go through fire academy.
I will be worried about taking the MFR and EMT class, but she will be there for me and help me with those. I am curious what the Fire Academy has to entail.
It ain't bad if you're not claustrophobic.
