Cool doing that, so the guys/gals can get some highly useful, real-world training.

There is a local scrap yard for trucks here that does the same thing for our department. They normally have classes once or twice a year at that yard ripping trucks and cars apart.

Lisa said it was pretty cool to watch

Ross think of it like this. Are any of those other "Good'ol Farm Boys" any more likely to have applied themselves in school than you? I know some real meatheads on fire departments, if they can make it through the schooling so can you.

Also, you were smart enough to get Lisa to marry you, you ain't no dummy.

And just so you head doesn't get too big, if they want you on the department they won't let the schooling that holds you back. They give you any help you need to get through and pass. It is in their best interest for you to learn and pass and join the team.

There is a lot of truth to that I think.

Lisa's nursing license does not cover her for working outside the hospital, so she is going through a Medical First Responder class right now.
She's taking the class with several other guys from various other local departments.

She was telling me about one guy from a neighboring department who is really struggling.
I guess once a week guys at his station get together one evening and help him practice. He asked Lisa if she could come this Saturday to their station to help.
Somewhere along tg lines I got volunteered to go along to be their "patient" to practice on.

You should get involved Ross. You'd be an asset. I did for several years, but got out shortly after I started working for the water Dept. Got tired of hearing my boss gripe about the fire department and our fire chief asking about hydrants not working properly. Basically, it's what you make of it.
