Amazing to me thatba guy in Georgia even has jumpers. Less than half here do and we probably need them a lot more often.
Dead battery here just as dead as a battery up there when it comes down to it. Batteries here simply succumb to not so much cold, low temps, but knuckleheads leaving interior lights on, headlights on, etc and walking away. End result is the same.

So a question for the guys familiar with batteries in remote locations. The BMW battery has a hose attached so that if the acid leaks it has an escape route and doesn’t mess up the interior.

There are many other batteries on the market but they don’t seem to have this attachment.

Thoughts? Any “danger” in not having it hooked up to the vent?

I think my battery is dead too. No motivation today

You're supposed to remove the cover before charging....

Get a Optima and it would be fine.

BMW is like Stihl in the proprietary stuff. If you are at a major auto parts retailer you may ask if they have one with a vent line.

Otherwise, a good maintenance free battery should be okay I would think.

Thanks guys. Surprisingly one of the best rated batteries for our weather is the Maxxforce from Wal-Mart. We usually need to change the battery out every 4 to 5 years and spending a bunch extra on some of the name brand ones just isn't worth it.

Good to have options Dave. Wonder how the folks up in MN faired when they lost power, it was like 7100.
Yesterday my wife got a text from the electric company telling everyone to turn there thermostats down to 65.
I like the wood stove right now!
I was reading that there is a problem with the gas supply up there. All the auto plants have either halted production or cut back to help out.

Its probably there to make sure no hydrogen gas gets in the cabin. That stuff can make stuff go boom.

"Get you an Everstart and get on down da road!!" Some of the best batteries to be had are the ones Wally World sells oddly enough. Every battery has a vent on it somewhere.

I'm surprised it didn't have a dry cell battery to begin with. I know my coworkers Prius had a dry cell in the trunk when I jumped started it.

I'd have to think about that, not sure if I would help out a Prius fellers, looking his nose down at me. Would be funny though with a fifty year old vehicle. Lol

That's what I'm running in Greenie. Turned over surprisingly well this morning. I have no idea how old it is.

Gonna have momma take the new Jeep to work tonight just to be on the safe side.

If that hose is plumbed outside, there's reason it is, best to get one with the hose pipe vent and not be breathing that.

They run good right up to the end and than they are done, there's no nursing them along. They give flawless performance right up to that point though. At nine years old it would crank my truck at -20F just like it was brand new.

This is the one I was recommending for her Everstart Maxx, I said Maxxforce before but it is Everstart Maxx.

Will have to do some reading, research on that. I wonder if it was a requirement of the BMW battery but not others ? I know a guy that used to sell BMW's, maybe he's got a connection with the real story...
