Alright you smart fellers. Gots a couple questions for you. Im going to use the below concrete stack to make a culvert and run a 6" pipe out the side to drain the runoff coming down my lane.

The tube is 37" long and I plan on standing it in the hole and pour a floor with some sackcrete. How far from the bottom should I poke the hole through?

Next question. Im going to fab a grate for the top. One side is from where I cut it off and the other is the original indented ring. Which side would be easier to fab a grate for?IMG_1660.JPGIMG_1662.JPGIMG_1661.JPG

What type of soil do you have?
How far away from the house is this going?
I'd put stone in the bottom rather than concrete, unless it's close to the house and you don't want the added water right there.
When determining the distance up to your exit hole, think about how much or how little debris well get into it. The more you get inside, the more you'll have to clean it out. I'd think 12-18" would suffice

I'd try and surround it with drainstone to filter debris before it gets inside.

I really don't see much of a benefit keeping it very far off the floor. If you want to act like a trap I understand keeping it up.
The lay of the land and how far out the 6 inch would run to day light could be another good reason to keep it off the bottom.
As for the grate I don't see much difference either way for fabrication.

Its going to be a couple hundred yards from the house. Soil is clay below topsoil. It will be at least 100 yrds to get to daylight if I set the drain at 24".

I have never done this so Im concerned at how deep to set the pipe. I dont want it to freeze and back up. 32" is our frost line.

If the line has fall, it shouldn't freeze being that deep. If frost goes that deep, the water in the sump will already be frozen.
