Everything works off pressure on a carburetor. Forget what the top of the piston is doing, think of what the bottom is doing to the primary compression in the crankcase.
I get what you're saying. Tomorrow I'll bolt the 6421 cylinder back on and see how it runs. If it does, it's some combination of the cylinder, piston, or impulse

Dont know. I had the timing advanced. Returned to stock and it did the same thing

You increased the pressure/vacuum(pulse) signal to the carburetor by installing a BB kit, the carburetor therefore is no longer able to contain the inlet needle at low speed. At high RPM it can use enough fuel not to notice the difference.

Makes complete sense.

Got the little Poulan/Craftsman 2.0 running today. @Jon1212 Carburetor was very sensitive and hard to adjust and stay adjusted, when saw was turned on one side it would speed up, the other side it would die. It was oiling and I did manage to cut a couple pieces of wood, it did real good with that new Raisman chain. Pretty sure you know the diagnosis from what I've discovered.

Edit: Also it didn't run like a ported saw at all, whomever did the porting, must have had a real light touch.
Do you need me to look for some seals for it?

No, just giving you the report is all, and busting your balls, as you and others have asked about it.
What would be the Poulan name for that saw? I'm thinking that route would be easier to go through than Sears.
