Aluminum is best for cutting squish with. I used some plastic and some aluminum to cut bases. Wood mostly for sanding. 8-9" is best in the smaller lathes.Aluminum or plastic in the 2.25" to 2.50" range
think I can get by with as little as 9" or so I think.

I looked when I got mine. Same as yours. I think it's like 235 lbs. But you have a hundred lbs of extras
Good looking saw.Picked up a 1 owner 046 yesterday, pretty clean saw, he only used it sparingly, for firewood. Had not been use in years. It came with a 25" bar, and a few loops of chain, and some other misc saw related bull chit...
