Are the spools 30-35# like MIG wire is ?No apprentices here. In a good night well go through 10 lbs of wire
My dads answer for getting skid steer years ago was " I can buy you a lot of pitch forks for what one of them cost".
We never had a silo unloader ether. There were a few times in the winter that the silage would be so frozen I had a grub axe up there, a few times I took a chainsaw up there to cut it up a little........That didn't work so good.My dad used that same line word for word for years about skidloaders and silo unloaders. We got a skidloader and now he don't want to do anything without it!!
Just need to get some unloaders now.....
You guys have any Goat farms around by you?
There have been a few older dairy farms around me that are converting the barns to milk Goats. I never knew there was that big of a market for goat milk.

I hear you about it being frozen.... There's winters when it's frozen to the outsides 2ft in and you end up hollowing out the center down 10 feet or more... Then it warms up and it falls in! Fun stuff I tell yea!!
There one guy a few miles from my house that is converting over to goats. I'm going to try and get over there this summer to see what it's all about. Dads said he wants to milk 500 of them.Nope, no goat farms here if any size that I am aware of.
I always looked at dairy farmers and thought that they have the life.
That was until we hired a guy who was the herdsman for a large dairy farm. After talking to him and hearing what they do.
I am happy to play with my pigs.
All the goat farms are in Dearbon, Mi
Around here the small family farm are drying up fast. So many places are going so big it's driving out the small places.
I was talking to a builder a few weeks ago, he's been working at one place about 30 miles for me. He said by the time there done building they will have 40 acres under roof.
Yup, come 2019 I'll more than likely be looking for a new occupation.
The way things are going, it's all big farms, or small "hobby" size farms doing niche marketing.
200' walking trail cleared. They were loading the first load out as I left...now to see how much of this road has to come up where they bored into the water line. Made a mess underneath....
Guys this morning were running a stock MS201 and MS261...brandy new. I pulled out my Mastermind 372 with square chain...they no longer liked their saws. Whoops!
It's sad that a farmer has to get bigger and bigger just to make a living. On our small farm it's unreal how much money we put out (gamble) with just to try and make it back.
I don't know for sure, but farming has to top the list of worst input to returns of businesses...
