Evening fellas.

The 97 crapped out yesterday in the rain... thought it was the new cap/rotor I put on ingesting some moisture. Not so certain it isn't the fuel pump, 20 years old after all..

Gonna drag it to the shop tomorrow before I head out and let them deal with it.

If the 97s are anything like the 2000s, 95% of the time it's the fuel pump. 4% of the time it's the fuel pressure regulator. The other 1%, wtf knows

Yeh, I'm not 100% either. Put the cap/rotor on, drove around all day. Rained that evening wouldn't start the next day. Waited another 24 hours and it fired up. Th3n died yesterday while driving once the rain started...

Cleaned the contacts, no fire. I can hear the pump prime, but that don't guarantee the right pressure. I'm gonna hAve em replace all the ignition parts while they have it. Even if it is a fuel problem. Still on original plugs/wires/coil.

evening joe hows you

Doing well, heading back to work tomorrow.

With a crapped out rig? Probably not thrilled......just sayin' and stuff dot dot dot

Lol, it is the spare rig. But hoping to use it in a few weekends.

Was tempted to take it to wi (460 miles each way) tomorrow. Having it crap out in chicago would have made for a bad day...

Those tires would be on an '83 Oldsmobile before nightfall.

Probably true.

Did you try and diagnose anything at all? I'm not the greatest with modern vehicles, but it can be reasoned through most times I'm finding. Carburetors and ignition modules were as far as my tech goes back. Lol
