Good morning.
Gaskets came in yesterday, so I can put my 357 cases together as well. Still have more parts to come in and acquire yet.Good morning folks,
slept so-so, am in the chainsaw projects today, washing, getting ready, hopefully changing the bearing in the nos 357 crankcase.
Later I will drive out the logs, I will take them in the timber claw lol
There are little posts in the chainsaw section here, are we dying out?
Don't people bother?
Should we start making build threads?
Do we need a seal tool kit thread idea?
Good Saturday to you NSPers. Finally popped the top on the 268 my friend's dad gave me. Was gonna kit the carb, but found NIB 260a on the bay for $50. I'll kit the old one eventually but for now it's easy button for me.
Anyway, the OOPS truck brought my @Stump Shot via @Sawdust Man 346xp today. Didn't have time to fire it up for a proper test...
Thanks it's been year's since they've been reasonable usually 80.00+Good Saturday to you NSPers. Finally popped the top on the 268 my friend's dad gave me. Was gonna kit the carb, but found NIB 260a on the bay for $50. I'll kit the old one eventually but for now it's easy button for me.

I regretted it because they were 36.00 back then and I only bought 2 for the 266 and 268 Steve ported
I just bought 2 more
One of these decades I'll put together like 10 266/268/272 parts piled up.
Get it ported they are a fine light 24" falling saw.
I came here originally for the tech help, but I know what I know now so really am only interested in checking you lot aren't dead currently.
Any tech stuff is a useful resource tho. I've tried to pay it forward, I have a 357 thread in here somewhere actually.
Yep. Forums are pretty much doomed.
I plan on doing a build thread on the scrap bin ms260 I have once I get to it.
I know they are basic saws but maybe someday it will help someone. I know I've heard from a few my 046 thread helped them figure out the chain brake linkage and such so it's worth the effort.
I think it's important that we do build threads, even though it's been done before.Gaskets came in yesterday, so I can put my 357 cases together as well. Still have more parts to come in and acquire yet.
While I do agree with you, I also find little upside to do so when you never know when you'll get harangued and all the fun instantly goes away. Even if it is meant in the spirit of good fun, it can be taxing to the creator and his/her content lost in the shuffle. It only takes one time to have effect, fortunately it is not every time occurrence.I think it's important that we do build threads, even though it's been done before.
Many threads are old, and some of the saw models we're going to build have, or will soon have, parts that are NLA.
It can be a bit of detective work to find NLA NOS parts.
So even though the threads have been done before, new ones on the same topic can be interesting.
My 357 and 340/346 also need parts before I can make a build thread, but if Steve gets started before me with the 357 I might just join the thread he makes.
I just think it's important that we create something on the forum.
Maybe something less than a build thread would be in order. Where a lesser detailed report that's a bit more generalized in nature without more specific details being gave out.The last time I did a build thread....like 3 people even noticed. LOL
I've thought that if we could have a blog of sorts on our profile where we can do any build thread or write up we like, without a peanut gallery that stays linked to us would be nice. A person can then easily view what the builder is doing and with what saws. The last time I did a build thread....like 3 people even noticed. LOL
It's nice to see that in 2025 or whatever year it is now, they still make real motorcycles.Had Kathy's new seat ,floorboards and sissy bar i stalled on her new bike. Now we can ride 2 up. If it ever quits raining. View attachment 463273
