We have had a tradition of creating adventurers, especially the North and South Poles.
It's good they found him though, good job by those who searched through the difficult terrain.

Lots of drones used to search but in the end it was a chopper pilot that had been chartered to search. The thanks should go to the ones that donated cash to keep the chopper fueled and in the air searching.

I'm home fellas. Thank you all for the well wishes and prayers. Ended up fixing two inguinal hernias. The only serious pain so far is the gas pain from being inflated like a blimp. Uncomfortable...absolutely, but it is tolerable.

Don't be fooled by the lack of pain now, morning will be a SOB (if not sooner). The only time I have taken T3's and been on the verge of wanting something stronger.

About 36 hours for me to recover from 'blimpdom'. Other than that I hope you get through it quickly and painlessly. Reminder, don't strain for a day or so...keep cheese to a minimum!

The way they told me was "stay ahead of the pain", meaning don't wait until you're in agony, take the pills on schedule, at least the first day or two. Eventually, the pain becomes less annoying than the pills. That when healing is really revving up.

They gave me Tramadol. Not a super strong opioid....which is fine by me. I told my surgeon that I was a recovering drug addict with nearly 20 years clean. Im sure he took that into consideration when writing the prescription.

Good to know. I had tramadol for back pain, and there was almost no mental/mood effect as with most opioids. I'm looking forward to you healing up!

They probably know roughly what kind of pain you can expect after surgery Randy.
I have had Tramadol treatment after the wood splitter played with my fingers, twice since I have done it twice, as always it is important to use Tramadol so that it is most effective, but to reduce and stop Tramadol when the pain is manageable with other painkillers

Sounds like everything turned out good and you’re on the way to healing up and a speedy recovery take it easy for now because I know of a special surgeon that needs to do surgery on a 500i lol

Well, found some old rot that was just covered up! Fugging hacks. I knew when it had plywood and not original hardwood, there was an issue. I just hope they fixed it! Several of the old planks are soft, cupped, or full of knots. I’ll probably take it to the joists and use 3/4” plywood and then whatever I need to make my LVT even with the old hardwood. It’s always something.

Does anyone have recommendations for track saws? I’ve got both Milwaukee and DeWalt batteries.

I've never needed a track saw. To ensure a straight cut, use a piece of flat steel or aluminum stock screwed down on the floor. Doesn't need to be full length even, just snap a line that corresponds to where the base of the saw will be when making your cut, attach the straight edge, and slide the saw along it.

This assumes that you are wanting to make a cut on the floor to transition to the new flooring.

When I was suffering from an undiagnosed tick borne illness, I actually couldn't remember how to do things I had been doing for decades. When I was finally diagnosed the doctor told me that was being caused by swelling of my brain. It took a few years before I was completely "back".

So I know well the feeling of "stupid".

We had a dewalt at the school. Beautiful cuts all day long. My current company has a clapped out makita thats been beat on like a 5 dollar hooker. Gets the job done but not as nice as the dewalt. Plus it's not cordless

When I was finally diagnosed the doctor told me that was being caused by swelling of my brain. It took a few years before I was completely "back".

5 in 7 of my family had lyme disease this year. One of my sons had facial paralysis that took a couple of weeks to clear up. Lyme based nerve inflammation. I thought he was having a stroke.

As for track saws I have a makita. I use it mostly to get good joints for gluing when making table tops.

I was going to go with Dewalt since got a lot of their cordless stuff, but grabbed a cheap Kobalt instead. It certainly did the job. We'll see how it holds up.

If you want to use the Dewalt batteries check for a battery adapter. I found one for a dewalt battery to a Matabo tool.
They have them on flea bay and scamazon for just about anything.

Body and mind are so interrelated!

A big reason I've gotten back into working on saws is to force my brain to work. I'm retired, and could realistically sit around and pay other people to fix my saws or, even better, do the tree work for me. But without a challenge, I'd probably eat & drink myself to death in a year.
