That sucks. My son clipped one in our driveway the other night but he was driving my truck, so it didn’t do much to it. My supervisor worked/lived here for 10 years before me and between his family, I think they hit 4-5 deer within sight of the house and one jumped off a bank and took out the A pillar of his new work truck. Totaled it with less than 10,000 miles!

Morning gentlemen! Still have 3-4”of snow hanging around but the roads are better. Kids and wife got another snow day, but I’ve got to drive to the office for a meeting this morning. Hopefully the bad spots on the roads melt today. Packed snow/ice, shady spots, and hills makes it sketchy at best. Our highway department doesn’t salt the roads at all, they just throw a little grit out and say “good luck”! When we first moved here, we got behind the “sand truck”, a 1974 LWB Chevrolet with two guys riding in the back slinging grit out on the road. My wife questioned my love for her by moving her out here, lol. Have a good one!

I’m not in the mountains. I’m in Sharps Chapel, in Union county. They have spreaders in the trucks now. The newest road superintendent is doing a good job.

We don’t have elk here, but they are in the mountains across the lake and Powell Valley. Maybe 6-8 miles the way the crow flies. We had a few across the lake on TVA property a few years ago before TWRA changed the regs to allow incidental take during deer season “outside of the elk restoration counties”. If it happens again, I’m hunting them suckers! When we had our meeting about season setting, my technician and I were the only ones for it in this region.

Yes sir. Chuck Swan WMA is surrounded by Norris. It used to be called Central Peninsula WMA before politics got involved. 25,000 acres. It’s also a state forest so we don’t have complete management control like other WMAs.
