What do you use for that?
I usually stick to warm soapy water and a little denatured alcohol. Some of the mechanical devices tend to get sketchy when the ropes get coated with pitch. It gives you the butterflies in your stomach feeling at first when the device doesn’t descend properly and then suddenly you lose several inches of altitude unexpectedly.

Can imagine free falling for a ft or 2 would make the heart jump

Don’t you guys have any sand in TN? You need the grit for traction. And the dark color of sand attracts the suns rays and helps to melt it too.
We have sand...after they grind the rocks into it.
Never heard that one. How’s it working out?
Really well. Calcium in the lime seems to help melt the ice, and the lime is course ground so it helps with traction.

Not naturally, it has to be barged in from up North or manufactured from stone, either is expensive compared to like by me, it's everywhere, plentiful and literally dirt cheap.

Used to run some orange citrus cleaner in with the water for the dripper on the blade of the sawmill when doing pine to help with pitch.

They used to use manufactured limestone sand on the roads here. Problems came in the spring when the bicycles and motorcycles started having traction 'issues' on all the downhill turns that still had the sand remnants. I think mostly VDOT uses silica sand mixed with salt, but not sure

Yeah still not enough, needs to come up over the cab. Friend of mine hit one on the way back from Duluth with his mustang. The had to cut the roof to get is wife out of the car because her head was pinned between roof and head rest on seat. She ended up with a fractured skull but made a full recovery luckily could have been much worse.

On Molokai it was the 50th one in the conga line dashing across the single road that crossed the island

They went down the mountain towards the sea each evening at dusk and headed back up at dawn and just kept wandering back and forth all day and all night

Estimated 25,000 deer on an island 10 mile high and 30 miles long

I just had a thought that would help prison overpopulation and lack of traction on roads while providing jobs.
Fill a dump truck with pedophiles and rapists. Pull a wood chipper behind. On icy spots simply feed a few into the chipper and their ground up parts will provide traction.
