Plaster board can easily be replaced. Don't be put off by cosmetics.

It goes deeper than the plasterboard, though. Tough to see from the pictures but there is extensive water damage throughout the home. Rafters and floor joists have rot all over the place. Our pregnant Realtor friend (in the grey dress) almost fell through the kitchen floor.

Long as it’s priced decent go for it. Bring it back to its former glory. You’ll probably regret letting it go.

I regret alot of things. This one is too much for me to handle. The house still has some "good bones" but I don't have the budget for what it really needs. Full roof including rafters, new floors, several new walls, repair to the pool etc... it should have been left as a memory.

There is one house we call “the one that got away”. It needed lots of work and we probably still wouldn’t be done after 10 years of ownership.

My advice is, if you can get it for price that allows you to fix the roof right away and work on the rest as you go do it. If it can be safe but not pretty and the wife agrees, you should do it.

There is one house we call “the one that got away”. It needed lots of work and we probably still wouldn’t be done after 10 years of ownership.

We have a few like that, that we still wonder what would have been. We only found out about this place being available yesterday, so it's still alot to process.


Wife and I are still talking about everthing we looked at when we were there. I reached out to my Aunt, who lived there with my grandparents in the 70's for awhile, and she suggested that "That house owns you" implying the maintenance and upkeep was exhausting. I was 17 the last time I walked in that door, and I think I overlooked quite a bit back then.

I will keep y'all updated on what we do.
