I could change the spark plugs in my 1966 1/2 ton Chevy with a 283 in about 10 minutes

One ratchet, one extension, no wobbles or flex or Asian guy with tiny hands, no blood loss, not even a skinned knuckle

Those truly were the days
A guy came into Advance maybe 2 or 3 weeks ago, with that exact truck- '66 C10 with a 283. Looking for an air filter. Had the old one with him, with a P/N on it. I thought for sure we'd have it. Carquest- DIS-CON-*f-wordING-TINUED.

Still available from ACDelco but not one store had it in stock. I was actually shocked that we didn't have that one.

Thats nuts, I guess plain round air filters are for dinosaurs

At least it wasn't an oil bath air filter

I still remember the mess I made the first time I ran into one of those

Don't even remember what it was other than an old ass pickup

Dealership said $354 for this hose and 10+ days, I found this genuine Chrysler one on ebay for $45 shipped. I'm all for supporting local businesses, but DAMN! Ain't no way!
I'm with you. Local businesses are great, but they are gonna have to compete or GTFO. Working at the parts store, these prices are ridiculous. My usual discount is 20%, the last 2 weeks they gave us 40% as "employee appreciation". Even with a 40% discount, a lot of the prices weren't even close to competitive with RockAuto or online. I bought the struts for my sister's car and condenser for my car because they were close to the same as RockAuto, but I still needed other parts that were 50+% less online.
