I drive 10 over all the time, they don’t even blink here unless you are at least 20 over.

State patrol around here will not pull you over to write tickets, until you're doing 15 plus over posted speed limits. Sheriff and towny cops are a little less forgiving.

Assholio state patrol in Iowa once pulled me over and wrote me a speeding ticket for doing 4 over, on the *f-wording interstate, I was doing 69 in a 65 zone. He was a real cock about it, he kept repeating, posted speed limit with emphasis on limit and how I exceeded the limit. I was like dude I understand, write the $38 dollar ticket so I can get on with my life.... He must not of gotten his morning reach around and was in a pissy mood or something. Iowa sucks, I've been hassled by more cops in Iowa than any other state.

One of my sisters still has a open warrant in Iowa from 20 years ago. Her and bunch of friends rented a motor home for a road trip, her friends were in the back partying, she was driving, cop pulled her over for doing 5 over posted speed limit, cop smelled booze, emptied everyone out the motor home, and searched it. My sister got a speeding ticket and a open container ticket, she said *f-word that, never paid them, or ever went back to Iowa.

That's exactly how I feel.

I remember the first time I got pulled over after getting clean. The officer took my licence back to his patrol car.....came back in a few minutes and asked me to step out of the truck and walk to the rear of the vehicle. I did. Then he asked me if I had any drugs or paraphernalia on me. I said "No sir.....not today sir". Then he asked if I minded him searching my truck. I said "No sir.....I don't mind, go right ahead". Then I popped the tailgate and sat down.....knowing that this was going to take awhile. He called for backup, and they searched. They even took off the air filter cover. They went thru my tool boxes. Looked under the seat, in the glove box. Of course they didn't find anything. The whole time I happily answered their questions, with a yes sir, and a no sir. I never became angry.....because I knew better. The chances of one of them adding "something" to my belongings was a very real possibility had I became a smart ass. So I just sat on that tailgate and chilled out. When they were satisfied, the guy that pulled me over gave me back my licence, and told me that I was free to go. Then he asked what sort of tooth was on the chain around my neck. I told him that it was an elk tooth.....and that it was part of the new path I was trying to learn to live. He smiled and walked off.

I was both terrified and elated. I knew that I was clean.....and didn't have anything on me. BUT.....with my record, I was worried about being treated fairly. These days.....I don't worry about a damn thing. LOL

You were probably disappointed they didn't do a road side cavity search...

Before I got clean......I got myself a felony conviction. So.....I'm not welcome in Canada.

I have a felony conviction on my record also. I've been to Canada several times. I've never had a problem getting over the border.

They don't do a deep dive into your background at the border. Or at least for me they never have. I don't roll up and tell them anything more, then what they need to know.

I've never been at the border crossing for more than 15 minutes. All they have ever asked me is, what's the purpose of your trip and how long will you be here, I answer them with as little info as possible, they say, have a nice day or have a good trip.

Me at the sweet grass / coutts, crossing a few years back.

I have a passport, but the Canadian border people have never asked to see it, all they ever asked me for, is my drivers license and vehicle registration.

Coming back to the USA, the border people on our side of the border have asked for my passport a few times. I have never had to show my passport to any Canadian border person.

I hear that a lot about men from my dad’s generation

They never knew how to turn it off and simply relax

It just wasn’t the way they were raised

Now it’s “if I can’t work from home in my pajamas then I’m quitting and suing you because my feelers is hurted”
I retired in 2017, had a bit of fun for a few years, then I felt my brain turning to mush, needed a mental challenge. Body got plenty of exercise, but the brain didn't. Now I get to use my brain more, and my body less. You have to do something, once you stop, it is hard to get it moving again. Working when retired is much different than working to make ends meet.
