The ford had just left the shop
Needed 10 miles for it to break down for the tow truck to be worth calling

Lmao on the ford it’s gonna happen to due to corrosion
Only real reason for the aluminum is weight savings
The down falls are
Still corroded to nothing
Special repair and replacement for the panels
Come on engineer think about it
They don’t want anything to last long after being paid for
The Grumman LLV mail vans have all aluminum bodies and they are still on the road. The last one of those was built in 1994. When aluminum oxidizes, the oxide layer protects the underlying metal, unlike steel, which continues to react until it has completely oxidized. Vehicle manufacturers don't need corrosion for planned obsolescence anymore. They have software for that now.
Guess who Ford purchased the no manifold technology from?
It's actually pretty cool. Makes the exhaust simpler, that's for sure.
Definitely a cool design. No worrying about warped leaking manifolds, blown manifold gaskets or broken manifold bolts/studs. Turbos bolt directly to the head and they are easy to remove and install in the truck.
What size engine?
Ford's designation, not mine. From now on, it'll be 164 cubic freedom units.

UPS trucks are aluminum too. Probably FedEx as well.

What about your dad’s Chevy when you got rid of it ?
Oh hes still got it.
My grandads 74 is still parked over at their place.
Hes also got a 2013 extended cab 4 x 4 thats he pulls the cattle trailer and his camper with sometimes.
The 86 is having problems with hot starts. Its got a 305 that seems to be original.
Ive worked on the ignition, vacuum leaks etc. Pretty sure its got a worn out cam. Dont have time to check it out further right now.
Plan has always been to pull the 350 out of the 74, freshen it up, and put in the 86.
I just dont know when I'll have time.
I dont hate Chebbies. I grew up around them and Dudges.
I just dont have time to work on stuffs. I'm not a tinkerer by necessity. I fix what I HAVE to so I can go back to work, and a vehicle that runs is one less thing to worry about.

Therefore I own a Ferd...😁

My neighbor is very particular with his stuff.
Like ocd particular.
He brushes the tires off of his truck with a small brush before pulling in his garage.

Sounds like my Dad. Once we were on our way back from a car cruise. Ran into some rain.

We were supposed to go to another car show the the next day.

Nope Dad spent the entire next day detailing the underside of his car, on the lift in his climate controlled garage.

It had water spots on it, it's not like the car went mud bogging.

True.
But every manufacturer also has a service department..

Here's a recall I'm currently doing. Replacing this sun gear in a 2023 Traverse 9 speed because it could possibly allow the cv shaft to disengage.. not that it can go anywhere, it's captured between the trans and wheel hub.

You are correct, they all have a service department, there isn't a manufacturer that doesn't. Not picking on the General, just pointing out the silliness of fanboyism. They all make good and bad. My GMC has been very good. I am not a GM guy, but I appreciate when someone, anyone, does a good job. I even told my frumpy dental hygienist that she does good work. Not a looker at all, but knows how to clean teeth.

As one who works on the General's products on a daily basis, I'd wager I've thrown more hate and venom towards GM than even some of the biggest Ford and Mopar fanboys.

What's that mean? Not sure what you are trying to say. I am not bilingual. Please, again, but this time in English.

Think old English aristocracy solving issues with pistols at 10 paces.
Except when swinging purses with Dall, it's 1/2 a step. Or so.
