I didn't..
Hickory isn't a common tree around here.
We’ve got huge stands of Shagbark Hickory here. Can be some valuable wood in the right form. Splits easy if not felled correctly. Usually snowmobile belly pans and the like, are filled with hickory nuts like the pic you showed. A delicacy among squirrels and mice.

Good Morning/Evening All.

Good morning nut lookers. 21 now climbing to a high of 45 by tomorrow at 5am... wintery mix starting around 9am today transitioning to rain for the rest of the day/night..
That crap looks to be staying south of us again, might be the best part of the week. Of course would rather be in Fargo dealing with it than here dealing with other *s-worde.

Good morning men, 18 going to just shy of 40 here. Percipation's forcasted start has been pushed off by 12 hours in the last 24, and with the temp swings likely starting as rain later this afternoon.

Remember when I posted this? Said it was an X17. Someone thought it looked like a X22. It is an X17. I can't believe how well it splits wood. View attachment 371763

What's the yellow handled axe in the back round? A Ochsenkopf?

I used to have a x17, it was a good axe, but it got tossed during the purge / memory clean out of 2017.

Just the handle. I hung a True Temper head on it.
