Branch supervisor rang me yesterday arvo to see if I could go help sort some fulla out who was "having trailer issues".

Oh joy.....

First issue was he was towing a 1650kg/3300lbs boat with a 1500/3000 at best Holden Captiva. You might get them as a GM something. GM Lemon be best moniker...we call them Craptiva.

Major drama was the bow vee block or snubber was mounted on paper thin steel that had already been weld repaired once. It simply folded out of the way, all the way. No Bueno. Not a part anyone local carried.

Made what I could out of a scrounge around. Chained the boat to the trailer via the bow roller using a 4x4 tyre as a softish stop, then pulled it forward with a load binder at the rear. Then bolted the vee block to the wrong side of the wrong mount wing to provide another layer of protection for the hull from the winch body. I wasn't happy about it, but the dude was 3 hours from his family and destination and took full responsibility. He was in way over his head if you ask me.
Pics don't do the amount of effing around any justice.

They are a Chevy Captiva here.
The mighty 2.4 engine.

Just priced out one for a 13 Equinox that came in knocking, leaking radiator, no compression in #2.
$6300 just for the engine. No labor, seals, gaskets, etc.
All to repair a shìtbox worth $5000 if it was in running condition.

Wife washes her hair in the bathroom sink not in the shower. She just said the drain was running slow. Pulled the trap off and found what looked like a baby raccoon pelt stuck in there. Water flying down the drain now.

I put strainers in all of our shower drains about a year ago. I could open a damn wig factory with the hair that gets trapped in them.

That's funny, coz it's on a Jeep. Ay @Dream :)
I see whut ya did there.;)
Not all Heeps are Stoopid tho.
Ours still occasionally does cool stuff, and is still pretty capable as a daily driver/funmobile.
Bosslady aint exactly the "soccer mommy" type.
I'm just pissed off that they put all the electro-tronical bullchit on a vehicle that was originally designed to go wherever and do whatever.
Now its a go sometimes machine.

We work 24/7 365 man lol. I’m just using the last of my 8 weeks vacay.
I get ya bud.
My ole man put in 36 years with the co-op.
I work for a 24/7 service company, so I get it.
Good thing is, I can check with my coworkers and get one of them to cover me when I take vacay.
The office knows who to call if I dont answer my phone.
Now if its a catastrophe, yeah, I'm going.:(

A+ on organization and cleanliness skills Mark. Lookin good my Cat friend. Show these guys the gas pony motor on the old gal. Surprising how big the fuel system in on the diesel. Thanks for posting your labor of yellow love!!
I love watching these old Cats fire up.
Have to get the pony motor going, then turn the big engine with fuel off until you get enough oil pressure and heat into it to get it to light off the diesel.
Pony motor actually circulates water through the big engine to heat the block and oil. Circulated by the water pump on the diesel engine while turned by the pony if I remember right.
Always wanted one to play with.

Yup, you're dead right. My next post shows me starting her up. That's a 250ci (4.1ltr) 4 cylinder diesel. 4 inch bore, 5 inch stroke. It always blows me away how heavily everything is built on these old Cats, no wonder that they last so long.
