Always keep moving. I lived in Bemidji, MN for a couple years and each winter there was a 3 week stretch where it never broke 0 for the high, and lows were typically around -35. It was amazing how acclimated I became to it - I would run out to my pickup in the morning in a t-shirt and shorts, get it started (sometimes not easily), unplug it, and go in to shower and eat breakfast before heading out. The foam in the seats was like concrete.

When I was house shopping top priorities was an insulated garage. I just don't have the time to fug around in the morning with *s-word not starting.

Excellent plan! Makes a huge difference. There’s an old Norwegian saying: “There’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing.”

Those Nordic fughers are crazy.
I’ll tell you what, in the fall when we go from highs in the 60-70’s to highs in the 40’s, that’s harder on me than it is now. Typically around the first week in November it does that here and it takes me about a week to not be cold all the time. After that, it’s not a problem for me. I actually prefer single digit temps because it finally gets rid of most of the humidity in the air. The cold becomes a lot more tolerable.

When it's cold you can stay warm, by dressing for the occasion.

When it's hot, don't matter if you's naked, it's still hot and you'll have sweat dripping off your junk.

I'll take cold any day over heat.

My dad has a good friend near Bagley. We would go up there a few times in the winter to go fishing.

3 or 4 of us kids loaded up on a TNT 440 blasting across a lake at -35, we'd spend the day sitting on buckets watching tip ups, or keeping the holes opened, once and a while we would go in the shanty to get a snack, but most of the day, us kids hung out on the lake, pulling fish out of the holes.

Some of the shantys up there were cool, beds, wood stoves, etc.

Sounds like a good time!

I framed houses most of my life...and you're spot on. 35 - 40 degrees with some wind and you will freeze your ass off. Once it gets cold enough to be dry.....not so bad.

I didn't even know you moved.
Wife got her masters last spring and got a sweet job offer up here. On top of great school and jobs a plenty for dumbs dumbs like me paying well so it was an easy choice.

It was funny listening to everyone this summer complain about the heat up here. But yeah it's always easier to stay warm vs felling like you're still on the verge of heat stroke.

Good morning everyone who may see this. Since I Come & go here so much, with most times just reading and not commenting. Could someone maybe point me in the right direction of a Bar & Chain Thread/Discussion. Seems a year ago you use to be able to type subject matter into the search at top . But now everything else besides what I'm looking for pops up. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance and Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas.

Well all I can say is,
Dam key cutters can’t even copy a key from a key:mad:

can you spot the difference/'s  the original is on the right.
I tried my best at getting good pic's

i think I know what’s been done, so hopefully with a raker file I can get it to work better than not at all at the moment. i just need to check a few measurements with a micrometer
