Jason Sunday is the SAL omelette breakfast and the auxiliary is paying for all vets and active service members. You should drive that sh!t box dodge up here and enjoy an omelette or 6. We got all the fixings plus cheesy hash browns toast and coffee. You’d be in a food coma but you’d enjoy it

Sup fuggers?
Had a near disaster earlier..
Finished up that crankcase reseal job and took it for a road test.

Got back and noticed it smelled strange..
Saw a whisp of smoke come from under the hood.
Opened it and that's when the flames started from under the turbo heat shield.

No leak, but evidently I didnt get all the residual oil off the turbo from me removing and installing and once it got hot enough, started to smolder. Once I gave it oxygen by opening the hood, the flames started.
Never had anything like that happen before.

I've had leaking trans fluid catch fire under a car. Not anything big enough that it caused any damage but enough to send me panicking for a bit.

Morning slackers. Wasn’t on here much yesterday. I was part of the group that cooked 1000 8oz sirloin steaks for patriotic event last night. Jason @USMC615 would have ate so much he would have probably passed out. It was quite the effort of 8 people to make it happen. We started getting ready about 830 yesterday morning and got cleaned up around 730 pm.

To all the vets and still active service members enjoy your day.
Thanks Nic.
I thank those that serve every day for all that they have given, but today especially.
I was told in April of 1991 that I was unfit to serve, so I hold all that were in high regard.
Always regret that I didnt get a second opinion, but then again, I wasnt as motivated as I should have been either.
Nobody's fault but mine that I didnt pursue it farther.
Just because the Marines saw my physical weakness in bad knees, I could have served in the Air Force like my father did in Vietnam, or the Navy like my grandfather in World War two.
Neither of them were drafted.
They both enlisted.
I will always feel like I let my country down by not serving in some way.
Thanks again Nic for showing these guys some love.

Looks like the ol’ rain, ain’t hardly been nothing more than a heavy mist for the last 12 hrs, is gonna be exiting the stage around these parts in another hour and gone.
elove.
Ended up with 1 -1/4" of rain, so I'm thankful for that.
Might actually get to burn some of the piles of limbs around here.:)

Happy Veterans Day! Thanks to all who served! Days like today I really miss my old cajun grandad who served in midway and told me stories as a kid about being on the Yorktown when it sank. They just don’t make men like that anymore! GFM later :)
Agreed Pat!
My grandpappy was a GA Cracker that served on a slightly less well known boat.
He was a diesel mechanic on an LST that was sunk during the assault on Gaudalcanal.:)

That was a good rain y’all got. Everything around these parts got a good soaking just not in downpour fashion.
Maybe I forgot to dump the rain gauge, but we got a good rain anyways.
No hard downpours, but welcome showers all day today.
Sorry for the folks in Florida that got beat up, but...
We DESPERATELY needed some rain up here.

Brent I really enjoy the volunteering I do with the SAL and the veterans steak fry. I never served and never had interest in it. Both my grandfathers did and one of my cousins. My grandfathers never talked about serving which I feel is why I was never interested. Surfing time with the vets doing the volunteering really makes me wish I would have enlisted. So I volunteer when I can to repay to them for what they did for us.

God bless you Nic for that.
Wish I could do more.
Same story. My Gradfather and dad didnt talk about what they did much at all.
I only learned about where my grandfather served through a veterans day testimonial at church, and from some late night confessions from my dad.
He was stationed in the mountains of Vietnam at a place called Tuy Hoa.
He was with the 3320th CEG.
They built hangars for aircraft and landing strips.
He worked construction during the day, and went on patrol at night.
I mainly remember him telling me how bad it was for the folks that lived there. Kids starving in the streets, but they couldnt help them, because they would try to kill them.
Pretty fugged up situation.

I wish these younger generations got to hear those stories like we did. Hope you’re doing well buddy. You can always call me up or text me anytime.
