Actually, in the 9 speed front wheel drive trans, the valve body mounts in from the side. And there are 8 check balls that fall out when you remove it..
There are still plenty of them, this one I just happen to be replacing the entire control valve body. If I split it, theres a bunch of chit that would go flying if not careful.
