So heres my two cents if its relevant.
Grew up in a family where "sporting arms" we're a means of subsistence for many years.
There wouldnt be meat in the home if game wasnt brought in.
Times have changed, and had changed by the time I came along.
That was no longer a requirement, but they still enjoyed supplementing the diet with wild game, and we still do.
Some of the first lessons I was taught were how to respect a firearm.
I wasnt allowed to touch one AT ALL until I had gained enough age and teaching for them to deem it safe.
I spent a lot of my younger years with a "BB gun". I was taught to handle it just as if it were a deadly firearm.
The first things a child should learn is that above all, weapons should be RESPECTED, due to the power they posess.
It was NEVER taught that they should be used against another human being.
My father and grandfather were both veterans, and had both seen combat firsthand. They knew that that was the LAST THING a gun should be used for.
I say that the larger problem we all have is the breakdown of the family unit, and the breakdown of our mental healthcare systems in many countries, especially here.
