I roofed this house in the mid 90s. 4 nails per shingle.....no corners cut. I've never lost a tab, or had a leak. Till a few days ago.
Shingled roofs ain't a thing here. Do you move the first course position on a re-roof to ensure you hit fresh timber with the new nails?I roofed this house in the mid 90s. 4 nails per shingle.....no corners cut. I've never lost a tab, or had a leak. Till a few days ago.
How I did mine. Removed old shingles and felt paper. Covered roof with ice shield, replaced shingles (50yr) with roof nailer. Replaced flashing and drip edge.Shingled roofs ain't a thing here. Do you move the first course position on a re-roof to ensure you hit fresh timber with the new nails?
And are the old nail holes then a possible leak source under the shingles?

Is that a GAF product?
Those are good shingles, expensive but good. Just hate shingling, unless I had help, but I never seem to get any. My house is a double wide with a low pitch. Just 32 x 77 is all. Way too many squares for shingles.Yes.
