There is the topping on the banana pudding. Now you can hire a roofer.:D

I'd rather do it myself anyhow. On this house the only thing I ever hired done was the sanding of the hardwood floors, and the sheetrock finishing on the tray ceilings.

Moar better.

I roofed this house in the mid 90s. 4 nails per shingle.....no corners cut. I've never lost a tab, or had a leak. Till a few days ago.

30 years or so ain't bad.
I recall taking my Uncle to the roofing place in my truck to haul shingles for him. The fella behind the counter is asking him what year he wants for shingles, 25, 30, 50 year and so on, I piped in and asked if he had any five year shingles as that was prolly all he was going to be needing. While the salesman had a good chuckle, my Uncle who is usually quite a jocular natured fella didn't have a good look on his face. Lol

Shingled roofs ain't a thing here. Do you move the first course position on a re-roof to ensure you hit fresh timber with the new nails?
And are the old nail holes then a possible leak source under the shingles?

How I did mine. Removed old shingles and felt paper. Covered roof with ice shield, replaced shingles (50yr) with roof nailer. Replaced flashing and drip edge.

I used a three tab shingle the first time. This time I'm using an shake style shingle. The odds of a nail landing in the same place are low. I'll be replacing the roofing felt too. No need for ice guard here.

Those are good shingles, expensive but good. Just hate shingling, unless I had help, but I never seem to get any. My house is a double wide with a low pitch. Just 32 x 77 is all. Way too many squares for shingles.

My last house was a two story 1300 ft sq, with 3 dormers and a 12/12 pitch, so you can see why I hate shingles!
