What's the instrumentation panel Nic? Water meters for each apartment?

Those are the electrical meters for each unit. Not sure how things work for billing water usage but there is only one water meter for each building. Not even sure how many units are in each building but it’s enough walking every day

Good Evening guys, today was the first day in a long time I had a meeting at 3pm in the office ( pub for a beer with a mate.)

at 2pm I see my bees decide to roost in a tree 20\25’ up.

3 times I went up there and shook them into a net/box etc.

When I returned at 7:30 pm I saw that one lot I put in a box decided to return and hang around in the tree :(
So up I went again.;)

this is the 7:30pm pic

What's going on buddy?
Why would an established beehive leave its bee box?

Environmental stressors come in many forms. Repeated loud noises, bad smells, too much beekeeper interference, predators such as skunks, or parasites such as small hive beetles all can cause your bees to leave. The colony simply says “enough is enough” and goes in search of a better life.

Is this gone

Sent from Hoskey hilltop

Some of the larger lakes have a little bit of ice left on them, just about gone. Have a snow pile or two here and there in the shade, otherwise they're gone too. Road limits coming off Monday for most everywhere. We're back with the livin'. :)

Do you worry about him feeding the chipper?

I keep an eye on him, I whistle at him real loud if he's getting ready to make a bad choice..he's fine.

Since we call him buck ... I buck like a chicken at him all day...buck buck buck buck

He loves it, I have a way of correcting him without making him feel bad, he just smiles all day, outside of keeping an eye on him I don't treat him any different than anyone else. And that in itself means the world to him and his parents.

it’s swarming season here, if and when the colony out grows the home they go. But I split the colony into two. The flying bees know where they live. So you leave the queen on a frame with brood of all stages, this way they shouldn’t leave. I added new frames with new wax sheets. This should make them believe they had swarmed, and have plenty of room to grow.

all the bees that don’t fly stay with the old hive, you also move it more than 3’ away from the original site. The young bees rear up new queens. The problem is I may have left it a bit late, there are many new bees emerging, so sometimes they will swarm with a virgin queen but sometimes she goes on a mating flight and a load of bees go with her.
The annoying thing is I didn’t see which hive they came from.
Also Some bees swarm more than others, keep making casts (smaller and smaller swarms with virgin queens.

I don’t know what’s happened to the swarm I put in a box yesterday. It could have gone anywhere or back home, I try once (ie one day) and if they have other ideas, I leave them to it.

The bees I have at the moment all come from 1 big swarm I picked up 3yrs ago. Which I’ve split successfully before.
I’ve heard from other beekeepers before that some yrs there bees mess them around.

but that’s bees and beekeeping uk, they can be quite differently minded and there temperament can be super nice or darn right nasty. I like the nasty ones because they teach me how to behave :risas3:

cheers
;)

That's the way to do it. Why my Mom still ran a day care she watched a little girl with down syndrome. Her case worker was surprised how well she was improving and it was because she was treated like everyone else vs being stuck in a playpen all damn day.

I think it makes him feel better about himself, I'm not gonna encourage him to have the mindset he can't do things because he's "different" - that's how losers are built.

He does just fine cleaning up and it gives him a purpose, I'd take him to clean up over half the people I know anyway.
