I don’t see any need to de-thatch. Run an aerator over it behind a riding mower and be done with it.

Haha yeah, i have experience w kikuyu. I guess it depends on what you want as a result. Aggressive dethatching/vertical mowing on a grass of that sort will lead to better turf over the long run. I wouldnt say its a requirement, but that stuff gets puffy bery quickly and can then become hard to mow

Just bought something similar yesterday Dave, hasn't arrived yet. Was cheap enough to use it as a development tool for a better one if necessary.
