DPF is just for soot. Never drove one that got 26 average. 16-18mpg average. In 6th gear @55mph yea 26+. I’ve driven and worked on many.

Yep, 6th gear with a light foot and I live in a rural area. The soot is the most harmful part of the combustion process for human lungs, which are the kind I have. Don't know about you, but less soot is better, especially with a vehicle I drive around my property, which also has livestock that I eat.

I’m with ya there. It sounded like you were implying your tractor had an SCR unit for NOX fumes. I didn’t think that got to that level yet but I could be wrong.

Just looked it up to check. 25hp and up and below 100hp DPF only. 100hp and up DPF and SCR.

I was informed 10 more years no more solid fuels and 20 more years no more fossil fuels would be used to generate power. 10 more years I’ll be looking for another job apparently. A lot could change between now and then. Cars and tractors may only be able to run on hydrogen

I think we will see liquid fuels from biomass to continue using legacy equipment, trucks, etc. There is a Canadian company making liquid fuels from cellulose, specifically as a replacement for diesel and heating oil. Should all be fairly clean with the only emissions being carbon, water, and NOX. Good filtration and carbon capture tech will make these fuels carbon neutral. Porsche is also working on liquid biofuels. These same fuels should work well with internal combustion powered OPE.

My tractor is indeed a tier IV with DPF, 45hp. I'd like to get the ECU tuned to the 60hp mapping, but that will be some time down the road. My truck is one of the last years without DPF, I think they came in 07 with the 6.7 Cummins.

Nat gas is a dying energy source. The primary means of harvesting nat gas is as a byproduct from fracking. The big lending institutions aren't giving any new loans for coal mining or fracking for oil. Pretty soon there will be no new fossil fuel ventures. It is a bummer for people working in the fields, mines, on the ground, etc. but hopefully folks will be paid to retrain. Much like all of the New England riverside muzzle loader makers went under when cartridges became the dominant ammunition. Hydrogen made from excess wind and solar generation might work well as a fuel for combustion engines, but there are drawbacks. Mazda can get a rotary engines to run on hydrogen, albeit with less efficiency and power.

HHO is unfortunate an energy carrier not a source. Takes more power to separate h2o into 2h2o2 commonly called hho or orthohydrogen. Would be neat if you could bottle the stuff and have wind power make it but you absolutely can’t bottle it unfortunately. The other option with it is a battery bank and you plug it in and is the batteries to make hh0 while you drive. But electric assist motors seem to be more effective in just burning less fuel. NOX is a result of high pressure combustion and or higher temperatures combustion. I don’t see a way around not having SCR NOX capturing equipment even if a vehicle ran just on hydrogen. The exhaust would be indeed carbon free. Nearly pure water but also Nitric oxides, nitrogen dioxide, nitrous oxide. All the reactive NOX that likes to suck up free O2. Meh who knows what we will have in 20-30 years
