We have a counterweight type control valve here from the original build in the 60s Pat. I'll try and sneak a pic one day for your masty bank.

That one is a balancing beam that controls the hydraulic rack and pinion that pulls our turbine valves in their sequence on a cam. It’s a balancing beam because it can be overcome by a flyball governor but driven by a governor motor. Strange old allis chalmers stuff.

You can see the cam in there that drives the steam valves. It’s all working. Problem is the valves themselves are sticking and popping and banging. We can’t trip them once we get them open. That means no load control. Bad news if we come on line like that

Well, I've got the accounts delivered to the accountant.
Tomorrow I'm fully booked, I'm going to prune the trees we have cut down, at least some of them.

Wild weather we have had in southern Norway today, rain, sun, snow, sun, rain, etc., right now it is snowing.

Finding something I will use tomorrow wasn't that easy.
A ported 42 special that needed a little tweaking did not take long before the coil wire failed, so it will not be.
Next was a ported 242G that needed brake flag springs, when I was finally ready to mount the *s-word, the saw had lost the chain tension, it will hardly be that saw tomorrow.
Then I found a 42 that I must have modified, which top end I do not remember, does not sound like a 42, but we will see. Now that it's snowing again, I think it's going to be a G saw anyway, I hate feeling cold on my fingers!

All this hassle of finding something suitable reminds me that battery saws are the future.

I’d walk out to the garage, grab my Tree Monkey MS261CM Arctic. It can sit empty for 6 months and all I have to do is add fuel and go.

Always smart to use them a little, Gary.
Some of my saws have been on the shelf for 4 years, some longer.
I used one when we cleared the line for the fiber line, but it is a year ago, remember that I finished with the 246 due to the chain brake on the 242G.
Since it's snowing I'll probably take a 242xpg tomorrow, I will not freeze. Is probably four years since I last used it ..

Other than getting their tickets pulled from the box, there will be no reprimand.

Best I can work out the small weight acts on the spindle, and if flow drops off the impulse line upstream rises in pressure and maybe acts on the big weight to turn it into a Tight Shut Off, but I'm really only guessing. It's been decommed as long as I've worked here.
