We use double clay bricks inside and out with gabled roof.The industry is trying to introduce brick veneer (clay outside stud work inside) to reduce costs .The pic I showed you yesterday was the underside of the upper floor deck on the trusses.Up until 10 years ago they used to pour a 172mm slab on top of the brickwork.Now it’s steel trusses with an 86mm slab to save costs but when you walk on it you can feel the deflection in the slab.I personally think you can’t beat a solid 172mm slab for strength.That's different from us
Are they flat roofed and do they run insulation in the stud walls or is there no need.
It'd be a hell of a lot cheaper if we didn't have to.

Looks like it'll work just fine. If you decide the side exit isn't gonna cut it the flat bottom of the barrel will conform well enough to that flange with a careful tightening of the bolts, might have to use some sealant. but a little leakage around won't bother anything. I'd ditch the damper because you want to run it wide open anyway. Get about twelve feet of pipe for the stack.The idea is to force the flame up to the pan at the back of the stove. No idea if it will work or not yet as the side exit for the chimney isn't ideal. Pretty similar concept as having flu pans in a commercial syrup evaporator. I had trouble sourcing a 6" flange that was flat and not flimsy or ridiculously priced. The one that came with the barrel stove kit is curved and meant to go on the top side of the barrel. As you can see there is no room for that with the pan.
