Used to have to get a heavy duty flasher for the older trucks if you wanted to pull a trailer. Standard flasher was underpowered for the extra incandescent load of trailer lights and truck.
Most newer vehicles have a heavier flasher already if they have a towing package. Most 1 tons do anyways.
LED lamps DECREASE the load, and the flasher unit flashes faster because it doesnt see ENOUGH load.
The resistor in line between the flasher and the light "fakes" the flasher into seeing a normal load. Resistance to voltage increases current.
Damn shame theres no Radioshack stores left around. You could run down and pick up those resistors cheap and quick.
So you gonna put them in parallel or series?

i do have one resistor left from when i put one in so my cruise control would work in yukon because of the led tail lights
ill order another and then worry about it
truck wont be put on the road for another week or so

We could try parallel. That could get interesting.:p
Used to get emergency light bulbs from the mill when we upgraded. My lawn tractor used the same physical size bulb, but the ones from work were 6 volts. Just wired them in series...

I did em parallel. No-one thought it would work. But that's what Ford did so i copied, and it does work, on multiple different trailers and adapters, and even a dummy plug to fool the truck into thinking it has a trailer on when in fact it is only a towball mounted bike rack. I'll try and find a pic for evidence.....

I say parallel. You need more load. Series will make the problem worse
