Try making pencil pushers over our truck maintenance/repair understand that, lol. He wanted a picture from the mechanic of my pads/rotors, one with the entire truck, one of the odometer, and one of the tag before they would approve brakes at 27,000 miles. I politely asked him if he had ever driven 20,000 miles on gravel/dirt roads and saw how fast his brake pads went. I have over 140 miles of two track on my WMA and it takes a toll on the brakes, air filter, wipers, and pretty much everything else.
People don’t understand how hard gravel and dirt is on components. Tires wear significantly faster when all you drive on is gravel. We have a lot of gravel around here - all the township roads are gravel, and about 1/4 of the county roads are as well, and we also have the only State Gravel road in the state. At any rate, when pickups started coming with rear disk brakes, that was a complete disaster. All that dust constantly getting into the rear brakes was horrible. You could replace rear pads 2-3 times before touching the front brakes.

Morning men, 34 and freezing rain, the roads are just treacherous

My son's dog that we are watching got loose last night

She tunneled out of the back yard and took off in the middle of the horrendous freezing rain and wind and I had to go out looking for her

I was out for a long time in treacherous icy conditions and thought she was a goner

She wouldn't have lasted the night but I finally found her about 2:00 AM

She is OK

Jeremy dotes on her and takes her everywhere with him, including work, and if she hadn't made it he would have been devastated

She is on a leash, in the house, and won't be out on her own for the rest of her stay

She doesn't get any coffee

A friend of mine lost his pickup in a fire that way - started it up on a cold winter evening and walked back inside to let it warm up. Came out 10 minutes later to flames coming out of the wheel well… By the time we got there, flames had reached into the building it was parked next to as well. We extinguished the fire and saved the building.

Worst part was, he was literally about to drive it to the dealer to trade it in. Always had the infamous “tick” at idle.
