What's this Hi-Boy swap you speak of?

Soooo... back in the day, no one knew what in the heck motor they had in their car/truck is what you're saying?
Technically a lowboy highboy, the donor is a 78/79 chassis that currently has a thrashed 69 body on it and is titled as a 69. My brother's truck is a fairly clean 68 2wd unit with a f-ed engine. Forget back in the day, even now you can't tell which motor is which. If the vin is right or the badging is right you can tell, otherwise my rule of thumb is the engine is the smallest possible.

I can second that, had a new GE washer that was broken constantly. Turned out it was built in China junk. Only reason I bought it was I thought it was a good American brand. Pfft, so much for that. Replaced it with a Speed Queen and the troubles went away.
Speed queen is the way to go, we have them at the mine abs they last 1-2 years with tons of people doing work clothes. The industrial Maytag and whirlpool were lasting 1-2 months

They don’t make anything to last anymore. Our Frigidaire dishwasher is only 3 years old, and the door seals are junk. Leaks every time we run it. Got replacement seals - still leaks. Tech tells me the door is probably cracked internally. Ghey. We don’t even run it on the high-heat setting. Can’t imagine how much faster it would have wrecked the plastic if we did that.. so much for a $800 dishwasher.
Bought a 1200) Bosch and it’s been good 10 years now runs 1-2 loads a day. I did put a pump in about 2 years ago but all stainless inside washed dishes really well and is quiet.

Not certain what is in them, no diesels anymore for package cars. Last one I spent several years in was an 8.1 gasser.

Not too far.

Yep. Last diesel ones that came in management was told to put them on routes that would have a longer run in at the end of the day due to the DPF on them. So of course they stuck them in town so it would clog and cause problems. Then the mechanics had to run a manual DPF cycle and waste fuel and time, not to mention the number of break downs just because they needed that regen run.
So, what’s the story on this crash?

Back in 1984 I was 16 and took a summer job at a Marina wrenching on inboard and outboard motors. The boss man had a late 70's Mercury Marquis I think, it was a great big ol' sumbich of a car at any rate was powered by a 351M-400. He always said he had a "400 Michigan" in his car. Which I thought odd and never believed or heard this before or since. What I have heard on numerous occasions is the M stands for a "Modified" 351 Cleveland turned into a 400. Which if true would make Ed's theory the correct one and the 351M-400 moniker make some sense, there only was one motor, the 400.
Dang, 16 in ‘84? Are you even old enough to play with chainsaws and cars?
