Morning ridged leaf springs.
It's friday.
It's friday.
Need some advice, having a little get together next week, expecting about 60 people and want to do some pulled pork. How many pounds of pork butt should I start with?
@cuinrearview 's suggestion seems a good ballpark idea. How empty is the freezer for leftovers?A sandwich is usually about 1/4lb of pork. Figure 40% weight loss to trimming/bone/cooking. I figure ~10% of people won't/can't eat because of preference or dietary restrictions. Probably double that for the weenies up there. Just some numbers to think about. Will this be the primary protein or is there more? How good will the pork be? These things matter. Unrelated, but ~30 people can make 38lbs starting weight of waygu brisket disappear in short order, and we had a LOT of food.
Good morning guys, happy Friday. I'll find out later tonight if it's a fungus Friday.

Four ~10lb butts felt about right to me, but I always do extra, even if I'm just cooking for us at home. Leftover pulled pork vac seals/freezes so well for quesadillas/sandwiches/chili etc later that I always like to have some around.I figure 1/2 lb uncooked weight per person.
Politicians mis-handling public funds is nothing newIf you get bored
I've never been to Illinois but i have been watching this wild story

Thanks @John Wargo , @cuinrearview , @stihl livin ,@Mastermind and others for their advise. I will see what I come up with but at least 40lbs precooked is where I will start.
Tim, while in the mindset, could you re-share the vinegar sauce recipe you have shared before? That stuff is good!!!
Thanks!!! I even picked up some authentic Texas Pete’s the last time I was shopping stateside.
- 2 cups apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Texas Pete's
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
Just remember to boil it ahead of time. A couple days in the fridge really brings it together. Thanks!!! I even picked up some authentic Texas Pete’s the last time I was shopping stateside.
I just can't. I'm having some trouble with the Holley on ol Clifford, and considering a new one. That seems expensive at 400.00 or so. A 900.00 shock absorber?
